I went to the McCormik & Schmidt’s in Oakbrook, IL today. All the servers and a lady that might have been a manager were all surly and not friendly at all. Seemed they didn’t like giving free meals to vets. I had the medallions of beef that was extremely tough with gristle. I did appreciate the free meal even though it was not good

$2.13/hour for wait servers is Un-American legal slavery!

    Before I served in Vietnam from 1970 – 1972, I made $1.35/hr in 1969 working at Jack-In-The-Box.

I definitely appreciate Veterans Day free meals, but every Sad Sack Vet needs to wake up and tip at least 20% of the menu price!

Thanks for your service to all of us citizens, and to other veterans! It is a great gesture for companies to offer discounts and gift services to those who have served and very nice of you to get the word out about this one. Great blog as well.

Just wanted to say I think you have a great blog going here. It’s important to help our veterans find a well designed platform for them to review financial information. In regards to this post, good for McCormick & Schmick’s. I think more restaurants should follow.

Had a meal there as well and loved it! Finances have been tough but being able to see the smiles on my family’s faces was great and I have McCormick’s to thank for that.

The Las Vegas McCormik & Schmidt’s did not have a Veterans Dad Meal ? As big as a Military Town as Vegas is, you would think they would set aside at least 20 Reservation times for us…. But No… I called on Saturday the 10th and asked. They were no tables.. now I could be wrong about these fine folks, so I will try to make my Reservations earlier next year. They do have Available open Tables this Wednesday ( the 11th ) at 3 different times for 8 people.. I hope they did serve a few Vets and I was just late with my request. thanks Military Wallet

We just finished our meal at McCormick and Schmicks. It was absolutely wonderful. This allowed us to visit some place we may not have visited BUT we will be back, for special occasions. The atmosphere was great. And, my Veteran husband received his entree free. If you have a McCormick and Schmicks, you should not let this opportunity pass you by. Accolades to McCormick & Schmicks!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of people forget to leave a full tip when they get a discount on their meals. The same thing can be said for free drinks too. Friends and I used to frequent a local bar so much that the bartender gave us free beers. I usually ended up tipping our friend the cost of the drink. Great tip. Thanks!
